The biggest ant in our history was about two-and-a-half inches long (the 
queen).  Just to stay on topic (Al can get antsy on this) I should mention 
some ants are green.  Ripley was something of a phallic reaction symbol, 
though I didn't notice the vaginal symbolism of the alien first time round. 
 One suspects any male might suffer the sex and snack fate, though this is 
more common in arachnids.  There is the Spanish film 'Who Killed Vagina 
Wolfe' doing the rounds.  Tropical ants are often rather metallic-looking 
like alien.  The male alien may have merely flown off thinking 'enough of 
this for a game of soldiers, where's the nearest pub'>
