Quite what is flying in mass protest I'm never sure. Those found dead with police or gangster bullets in them seem more innocent in Mexico than here, Germany or the US, though we clearly have 'overkill'. A non-black guy was shot by cops up the road last year and no one seems to riot - or even be interested in the long story of police corruption involved, dating back to when the last gang-boss was shot in bed, probably in a corrupt cop inspired hit. The scam involves selling (officially losing) lists of police drug informers to drug pushers so they can organise retribution, increased sales and monopoly pricing. Back in the day the detective could keep these 'lists' in her head. Now they are written down into unencrypted lists to prevent police corruption, left in wallets near open windows and keys to a getaway car or sold by the guy with access to the computer. It was so much better when you could go to a baron, mention the heat was on one's lack of arrest record and make oneself look good visiting the dozen addresses he gave you to pull some competition and minions. As long as one avoided the cheap suits and young girls on offer, the baron could get a tug without exposing half the drug squad to retribution at his trial. Resistance to cheap suits, pimped girls and even replated stolen BMWs seems rather low these days, so the odd baron has to be bumped off. One could once set up a putative baron to do the dirty work, but increasingly uniform cops can be ramped up to do this as a public service issue. It's all noble cause and without the trillion dollar global trade the sky would fall. The odd cop who failed to protect his back with lists on the activities of others is sacrificed to jail time. Obviously, as Gabby will know, I kept photographs of all the players in the professional standards department (internal affairs) in order to keep clean. I must have passed my techniques on, as all the brothels, drug dens and gangs from 30 years ago are still in operation. No one riots about this, though there is an old guy who writes letters complaining about one of the brothels to the chief inspector taking the skim. These days the brothel is legal and all one does for the skim is rewrite any unseemly conduct in its vicinity to 'no crime'.
