In the preferences pane, under 'File Preferences' please make sure the
'Enable Tailing of Local Files' option is checked. With that option
checked, when you open a local file, it will tail any local file opened (by
default) and achieve the functionality you are looking for. After the file
is loaded when you wish to stop tailing, you can click the 'Stop Receiving
Events' icon.
