Reply To okolo

    Excuse me please, I have attached a screenshot to the message.

Thanks.

It appears that you are still using WinXP, (which is becoming increasingly
difficult to support), but what version of mingw-get are you using? (Help -->
About should show you, if you don't know).

Error 12157 is an HTTPS security issue, which does tend to arise with WinXP,
particularly when downloading from SF, (and especially when using any version
of mingw-get which predates v0.6.3). If all else fails, you may need to resolve
the failure by manual download, and storing the missing
gdb-7.6.1-1-mingw32-bin.tar.lzma into your $MINGW_ROOT/var/cache/mingw-get/
packages directory, (where $MINGW_ROOT represents the name of the root
directory of your MinGW installation — the default is C:/MinGW, but you will
need to supply the correct name for your own installation).

BTW, we prefer you to paste diagnostic messages directly into your ticket
description, or a follow-up comment, because, when you attach JPG screenshots,
we cannot copy and paste text from them. Make it easier for us to help you, and
we will be more inclined to do so.

Comment:

This feature request would seem to be relevant. Do please note that there is,
currently, no MinGW implementation of ISO-C99's aligned_alloc() function;
without that, the G++ maintainers may be unwilling to support C++17's
std::aligned_alloc(), on MinGW targets.

Ticket details:

According to cppreference, the function std::aligned_alloc is apart of C++17.
When trying to compile the example code found at that page, the following
compilation error occurs:

 3.
 4.  int main()

 7.      std::printf("default-aligned address:   %p\n", static_cast<void*>(p1));
 8.      std::free(p1);
 9.
10.      int* p2 = static_cast<int*>(std::aligned_alloc(1024, 1024));
11.      std::printf("1024-byte aligned address: %p\n", static_cast<void*>(p2));
12.      std::free(p2);
13.  }

compilation output

        After downloading a legit version of mingw, using mingw-get, I got the
        same result.

    Okay, in that case we should follow up, although I suspect you may need to
    refer the issue upstream, on GCC BugZilla. A possible issue could be that
    Microsoft's MSVCRT.DLL implementations of aligned allocation functions are
    utterly incompatible with ISO-C99 (and later), and the G++ infrastructure
    may depend on conformance. FWIW, cppreference.com is not a reliable
    documentation source, for MS-Windows programming, due to Microsoft's wilful
    violation of standards.

I am not sure if this helps, but it seems that GCC version 7.4 implemented
this. Now I realize that a GCC in a browser is different than a GCC on windows,
but I guess I am a bit confused. I was under the impression that upstream GCC
wouldn't be concerned if it works on windows.
