Some thoughts:
1. Latest GCC for msys is 3.something, earliest GCC with Win64: 4.something;
you'll have to get the msys target for GCC figured out
2. Msys works fine on x64 OSes, and works perfectly fine with mingw-w64 (see
wiki) <http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mingw-w64/wiki/MSYS>
3. Of course it'd be great if you help port it! Don't forget the msysgit
project, who provide several updated binaries and forked off old msys some
time ago (among others, they provide an updated perl for msys)
