Sorry, the above is not correct in the default case. The correct version is:
Jon@Black ~
$ cd ~
-bash: cd: /home/Jon: No such file or directory
Jon@Black ~
$ pwd
/c/Users/Jon
My earlier experiments with HOME in msys2_shell.bat had created /home/Jon
and populated it from /etc/skel. The creation of /home/Jon and use of
/etc/skel didn't happen when I first started (and restarted) MSYS2 with the
default.
