Hi,

The 1.3-beta1 release of win-builds.org is now available.

This project creates a system to build and distribute for Windows from
almost any system: *native* Windows, MSYS*, Cygwin and Linux. Everything
is done through a portable package manager for easy installation,
maintenance and update.

This beta1 version means that tests on Windows have been conclusive, in
particular for the fallback for POSIX symlinks on Windows.

A video demonstration on Windows has been added to the website.
It showcases a full installation from 0 to a toolchain with additional
libs in as little as 4 minutes. Captions below the video explain the
various steps (I found out the hard way there is no cross-browser
subtitles for html5 videos):

Highlights of the 1.3 version:
- updated GCC, mingw-w64 and other packages
- fallbacks for POSIX symlink on Windows
- almost exhaustive documentation
- stabilization of the build system along with speed improvements
- probably maintained for security updates

I think the releases will move to a schedule which is roughly based on
time: new major GCC versions come out every 6 months; the idea is to
separate updates to GCC and the rest of the system, each one 3 months
apart. This will help spread big changes over time.

The website is available at:

Since this version is still under development (although it is mostly
stable), the default links are still for the 1.2 release; links for
1.3-beta1 are at:
