Hi, A new release candidate for Win-builds 1.5 is available. The focus for this 1.5 version has been simplicity and stability while also updating packages and adding new ones.
Compared to RC1, this release is almost exclusively made up of bugfixes. The only notable exception is with the GTK+ 2 stack which has been updated because of the large number of bugfixes included in the newer versions. The installation on Windows has been improved and a portable installer is now available. A screenshot of the GUI can be seen at http://notk.org/~adrien/wb_temp/temp/screenshot.png . Several new testers have stepped up and the linux installation has been checked on distributions like Arch Linux and Exherbo in addition to several releases of Debian, Ubuntu and Slackware. Other notable changes since 1.5 RC1: - expanded documentation, notably on installation behind proxies and packaging; it is now very close to complete - work-in-progress comparison with other systems has been put at http://www.notk.org/~adrien/wb_temp/temp/comparison.html (will be moved to www.win-builds.org with the rest of the website update) - qmake.exe is now relocatable - update to mingw-w64 v3.3.0 - win-builds-switch outputs the environment variable it changes - fixed gdk-pixbuf not locating its files in 64 bits - fontconfig remaps the "sans" font to "dejavu sans" - fontconfig searches for fonts in ../share/fonts - yypkg sometimes failed to find some libraries dynamically loaded at runtime - there is no "make.exe" file/symlink installed anymore to avoid incompatibilities with msys*; users should call "mingw32-make" to get it - djvulibre had its executables with ".exe" on 64 bits systems - Qt failed to _re_build - add libcheck which I've needed for work and used extensively - use yypkg 1.9-rc7 which itself has many small interface, features and stability improvements What's left for the final release: - checking all the components are up-to-date when it comes to security fixes; this will lead to another RC, probably not more As usual, bugs and feature requests can be reported on the mailing-lists or on the bug tracker.
