I mentioned that because people might inadvertently build GPL'ed GNU
software using this option, and violate the GPL without knowing it.  This is
relevant to those who read this list and port GNU software to MS-Windows.


Microsoft calls UCRT an "operating system component". UCRT comes pre-installed since Windows 10, updates via Windows Update, and can be installed after the fact on older versions of Windows (the ones still supported) via Windows Update. While i am not a lawyer, UCRT looks like a very uncontroversial case of a system library, and thus should fall under the "system library" exception of GPL, like MSVCRT.DLL does.
