Sourceforge allows all of those things. I personally prefer patch trackers vs emailed attachments, and we can use the patch tracker, but many more prefer the mailing list. >> Using mailing-list for that is a way that's not suitable for young > generation (including me). Mailing lists allow reaching a broader range of users that aren't able, for whatever reason, to use a fancy website based system. It's more accessible (for example, if a person needs various assist tools); it's easier for those in areas where they shut off the electricity for 18 hours a day; it's easier for third parties to mirror the archives; it's not tied to a single corporate host (the email isn't; obviously SF is just as corporate as GH/MS). There's a lot more to it than just "I like pretty websites." > Many people try to report bugs or propose changes but ended up ignored > because of this insist on using this outdated technology! Do you have data to quantify "many"? Generally speaking, we don't actively ignore our users. In fact, this project was founded on the principle of the opposite. However, there are finite limits on volunteer time to respond to everything, and things fall through the cracks (whether it's an email or an issue in a tracker). > Could you also port the project to a better buildsystem, like cmake or > meson. In any case, I think you might be confused. The choice of autotools for mingw-w64 doesn't preclude you from using cmake in your own project. _______________________________________________ Mingw-w64-public mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/mingw-w64-public
