Yes however I wouldn't expect that a recommended setup would introduce ABI 
incompatibility.

Anyway, I am not against this patch, given that that has been the case for years: There were incompatible instances of MSVCR80.DLL and MSCR90.DLL around, and even GCC did introduce many historical ABI breaks [1]. Maybe it's something more common than not.
