Oh, Makefile.in is generated from Makefile.am.
So I should have included that change, but in the process of dropping my
change from Makefile.in I also dropped the one from Makefile.am. My bad.
Excatly; the changes to Makefile.am are essential and are the human
readable ones that we want to review, and without it we can't regenerate
anything.
