The plain ftp.gnu.org, and the various mirrors I tested
(https://mirror.us-midwest-1.nexcess.net/gnu,
https://mirrors.ocf.berkeley.edu/gnu, https://mirror.cyberbits.eu/gnu, and
https://mirror.team-cymru.com/ gnu) all work reliably enough for us.
Which one do you prefer for us to pick? The main one, or any of the other
ones, to avoid unnecessary load on the main site?
mirrors.ocf.berkeley.edu looks like a good choice.
I would hesitate to use a mirror, since it's a potential source of
supply-chain attacks; but it's offset by the fact that berkeley.edu is well
known enough.
Sounds reasonable.
I'll push a patch to just switch over the existing setup to fetch from
there - since we need to fetch GMP/MPFR/MPC from a gnu mirror anyway, we
can just as well keep fetching GCC/binutils from there as well, instead of
switching to cloning them from github.
