It should be possible. Turn off debugging (--disable-debug) and virtual terminal (--disable-vt). Also, you probably don't have the OpenSSL library on the embedded device so just turn on built-in crypto (--with-builtin-crypto). These will radically reduce the disk space needed. And of course, don't forget to strip the executable. On a x86, this gives me a 152k executable.
