Hello all,
i would really appreciate if someone can share some light on this issue.

I have my network setup and MIPL running fine. My router advertisement interval is between 60 to 80 seconds (minimum and maximum respectively).

It seems that when i bring an interface up (specifically the interface which acts as a foreign interface and so does not have the HA present on that subnet) the mobile node waits ~60 seconds to configure its address and handover. Is this normal or should the mobile node send a router solicitation message right away after the interface is broght up?

I also typed the following command before bringing the interface up:
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/eth0/router_solicitations
however, when i brought the interface up i checked the value of router_solicitations and it was reset to 0.

On the otherhand, when returning home, even though i bring the "home" interface (i.e. the interface connecting to the home subnet) up after a router advertisement has just been sent (can see that from RADVDUMP) on that link, the mobile node seems to send a router solicitation and thus receives a router advertisement and handsover very fast in ~2 seconds.

Can someone please explain the normal expected behavior of the mobile node in relation to router advertisements and solicitations.

Thank you very much.

Mahmoud.
