Hi! Just to wetten your mouths a bit - I have finally managed to build an image for the minibook using OpenEmbedded, with some new features...
First of all everything is compiled with -msoft-float now. This seems to improve the performance a little but though this might also be caused by the usage of a new compiler (s.b.) - but do not expect miracles! The device just finally feels a little snappier and a little bit more usable. On this road I had to upgrade some parts, like GCC which is now 4.3.3 accompanied with a new set of binutils 2.19.1 and a new and shiny glibc 2.7. I will upload the new filesystem binary image to the LinuxToGo Minibook project. This will be a 36MB download. The file uploaded is *just* a .tar.gz of a rootfs. This is not yet a ready-to-install solution. I am working on this. It also still contain several "bugs", the most evil one being that the keyboard under X11 does not work, it needs an additional parameter -keybd keyboard on the Xfbdev commandline. This happened during the Xfbdev upgrade to 1.5.3 which fixed another keyboard problem (only every second key press of some keys beeing reported :( So this is for the brave only! Or if you want to rip it apart and only use parts from it. For some developers it will be of more interest that I will also create and release a new softfloat toolchain next (even prior to create the installable filesystem image - this is done to enable the *Step developers with softfloat versions). So stay tuned, things are coming up!
