I use ad-hoc on most my devices now because i just wireless tether to
my cell phone. This is the config i'm using on all my machines.
Haven't tried it on the mips netbook as its been sitting in a box for
awhile now, but i don't see why it wouldn't work on it.
ctrl_interface=DIR=/etc/wpa_supplicant GROUP=wifi
update_config=1
ap_scan=2
#AD-HOC NO AUTHENTICATION
network={
ssid="YourSSID"
scan_ssid=1
key_mgmt=NONE
mode=1
priority=1
}
Cheers
