Too bad… this code is full of “clever” tricks such as…
'Q' | 0x80
… and I believe by now that jupp has it right in using unsigned chars
exclusively, for both strings and individual chars. Oh well, my next
project will feature this then.
It looks like mksh R56 won’t quite be the “Mainframe Korn Shell” yet,
but I’m making progress, at the very least.
