Hmmm.. for some reason, it looks like people bookmarked the /dist section of our mirror, which no longer exists. So, now using modrewrite to fix that...

If there are any other mirrors who no longer host apache-site module, you may be having similar problem. Consider using this under your apache mirror vhost for those people still using old url.. (of course substitute your-apache-mirror.your-site.org to your actual mirror server address):
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^/dist(.*)  http://your-apache-mirror.your-site.org/$1 [L,R]

Just a tip for those of you who didn't use mod_rewrite in a while.. :-)

Refresh again.. Rsync just finished. apache.towardex.com itself is now just the apache-dist section. I no longer mirro the apache-site module.

When I posted the message, rsync was still running, and it was kinda messed up :-) It's all set now

Thanks

Are you still part way through mirroring this down ? Because a couple of
the images on the main page are broken.. Also when you mirror
apache-dist it is only the distribution files nothing to do with the web
sites

Hello,

We have stopped mirroring the apache-site module, but we are now
mirroring apache-dist module, which is what you guys prefer mirror
matainers to do anyway.

SO, with that being said... http://apache.towardex.com/dist you have on
your "download from a mirror" link would be no longer valid. From now
on, it will be just http://apache.towardex.com.

Please make this change on your web site when you get a chance.

Thank you in advance.

From my understanding of Justin's email... The ASF is not looking
for

people to mirror the apache web sites so change your rsync script to
point fo apache-dist as this is specific to the distributions
directory on the apache server.

We will keep the other rsync modules open as they have some cool stuff
underneath - especially the mail archives. =)

But, most mirrors will probably only be interested in the apache-dist
module for now. If you want to use more bandwidth (ours and yours)
and more disk space (only yours), feel free to rsync the others...

Again, we might rethink our policy of mirroring the website in the
future (just not anytime soon). Right now, we're doing such a poor
job of mirroring, that it is much more important to get distribution
of releases using mirrors. Once the dust settles and if our bandwidth

is still a major concern, we'll investigate mirroring more of our
content. Baby steps! -- justin
