> WARNING: CHECK AND RESET THE DATE!

This is from AMI BIOS and usually indicates that the battery that keeps BIOS
settings has failed.

[I have to support a legacy Windows XP system from ~2005, which gets booted
once a year, and is otherwise powered down permanently. Shows the very same
error message. The BIOS backing battery fails, and BIOS settings fall back
to hardcoded defaults. In my particular case, Date Jan 1 2002, and
complaining about a long dead floppy drive.]

In that case, it's usually sufficient to set the date in BIOS (and disable
floppy probing), then soft reboot and the system comes up fine.

If you don't see an option to enter BIOS settings, it may be hidden. Try
DEL or F2 to enter BIOS (or ESC, F1, F10) during boot.

But very likely failed battery.
