EHLO, As you guys & gals have noticed, our activity on the list has been quite low these last few months and it may have seemed to you like we were not working much on the project.
The truth is far from this ;-) With the help from sunil@, jung@, millert@ and a few other people, we've been doing an impressive amount of cleanup, review and merging back into OpenBSD to bring its base daemon up-to-date. A few days ago, we reached a point where both repositories became clones and we turned the master branch on Github into a mirror of the daemon in the OpenBSD tree so we can resume working there. For OpenBSD users, this means that smtpd in current is the last one, and there is no longer any benefit from using the version from Github. For portable users, this will make absolutely no difference to you. As of today, the master branch on Github will work on OpenBSD >= 5.7 and will make use of the new pledge() system call if available since we have converted OpenSMTPD to using this API. The portable branch is currently broken, the code has been synced but we need to do a bit of work in the build layer. This is in progress and the branch should be building again very soon, feel free to help us ! Note that us moving back to OpenBSD tree is a convenience thing, it does not affect how you contribute. We'll still accept pull requests, and the bug tracker at Github is still where you post your bug reports :-) Nothing has changed for you. PS: we'll resume publishing snapshots as soon as portable builds. -- Gilles Chehade https://www.poolp.org @poolpOrg -- You received this mail because you are subscribed to [email protected] To unsubscribe, send a mail to: [email protected]
