Brad is a developer, if he says your stuff is supported then it is supported.

If you actually took a minute to read what Brad wrote...
Most likely there is allready support for your computer in OpenBSD.
So download a -current snapshot and install it and see if things work out for 
you.

You don't want to compile from ports on the contrary it will just take a lot 
of time for little or no gain, instead use packages, they're there for a 
reason.
