> By that logic, i386 systems should always run MS-Windows, right? nope, because x86 hw is from various vendors and it's almost likely that they write the drivers (for newer hardware) not ms. especially if it is very specific hardware as for example a sun netra would be. the x86 is a very special case. because you can combine almost everything into such system and no 1 will ever figure out the combinations possible. with sun, you'd better use certified hw to plug into your server. that's a very difference. and this hw is certified with the hw the server already runs with and the solaris OS. that's a very good reason to stay with it. yes, ms does not run on that platform but if it would, i guess they would let sun write at least the drivers... (if they would like to) no i don't like ms... don't even think about it... and what's with support? if you use the servers in a production environment, i guess you'd like to have support for the OS as well, not just for the hardware...
