Hi misc@ readers I'm about to build some new servers for my OpenBSD farm, up until now I have used old i386 relics, not too dependable but I've got lots of them for spare parts =D
Now I'm wondering what is the preferred path to take when buying new hardware with regards to 0 The SCSI RAID issues with Adaptec - What alternatives have you tried, good and bad and the ugly 0 IRQ flooding on the NIC's - dc, em and sk seems to be the way to go, but what to for quad port cards? where to find one, brand names, model numbers, revisions 0 Any motherboard chipsets one should stay clear of? - I recal there where some issues with ServerWorks chipsets over at FreeBSD, am I embarrassingly out of date/wrong? 0 Any one tried the low end on DELL servers (tower models)? or is it a better move to build your own by ordering parts, if so, what is popular here? What I am looking for is HW mirroring of drives with hotswap for webservers and quadport nic's If I have left some flame bait, please don't ruin the day for misc@ readers, mail me private in stead, let's make this a long, interesting and friendly thread.
