May be is related to FAT16 and the extension for long filenames. obsd fs support for FAT16 doesn't have log filaname support, but mtools does. I've noticed problems while copying files from a Linux box to an obsd box using long filenames (more than 8 + 3 chars). Simply use short filenames or use mtools.
