For some reason my firewall is trying to get it's IP address from my ISPs
dhcp server and can't get an address. The lines to the screen go like this
Listening on BPF/dc0/08:00:20:b1:03:6b
Sending on BPF/dc0/08:00:20:b1:03:6b
Sending on Socket/fallback/fallback-net
ifconfig: SIOCDIFADDR Can't assign requested address
Then it goes into trying to get an address for the WAN side and times out
over and over until it gives up.
The network card appears to be fine. The dmesg is at the bottom of this
email. When I take a laptop and connect it straight to the cable modem it
gets an address from the ISP thru dhcp just fine.
Why can my laptop get an address and my firewall can't, when it could up
until yesterday? It stopped whein I installed OpenBSD on a new machine that
I want to make the mirror of the firewall and run carp/pfsync. But right
now the mirror is shut down and the primary still can't get an address, so
there are no conflicts between nic's etc.
Jim
