Hi,

I have encountered the (for me) undesired
phenomenon that the "route change" command
does not overwrite the routing flags of a
present route at least for host routes.

This has the effect that I cannot change
a host route created by an arp entry (which
is a LLINFO and clonded route) ino a static
gateway route. And hence the route will by
overwritten again by the next arp request
for the IP address in question.

Also, adding the "-static" commandline
parameter to the route command, does not change
anything.

I wonder if this behaviour is inteded and
if so, what are the reasons for this.

Is there any meany for changing an arp route
into a static route without having to remove
the arp route beforehand and hoping that
no network traffic will set it anew before
I can issue the "route add" command?

Any hints/help will be greatly appreciated.
I can of course also describe a more concrete
scenario if this is necessary.

Thanks in advance,

Michael
