CF is right for my needs, I occasionally sync files (rather than writing directly to CF) which works well enough for spamd/dhcpd databases for me, I log by syslog to a remote host and logging on the box itself is to memory-buffers (lost at reboot). This may or may not suit you. Apparently modern CF allow in the order of 10+ million writes so they'll probably last quite well with sensibly-configured logging too. > Using spinning storage begs the question as to whether either flavour > will automatically spin down when idle for some time?
