It affects this line in /etc/sysctl.conf #machdep.allowaperture=2 # See xf86(4) It is only needed if you are planning to run a X server on the machine. If you are only running clients (using a remote display) then you are fine. Just install the x*.tgz packages. cheers, Nickus
