Possible hardware troubles notwithstanding, you'll want to be positive that the passwords match on each of the instances of a particular vhid group. Even if you are, check anyway by duplicating the files while taking care only to adjust the advbase and advskew parameters. Not trusting my typing skill too much (and using scp'ing the files to all carp nodes) has yet to let me down. The above is of course just speculation without your hostname.* files' contents.
