You may want to look into the LSI MegaRAID cards, such as the 150-4
and 150-6 SATA controllers (not the 150-2). Running the upcoming 3.8
will get you built-in RAID management support.

Personally, I'm quite happy with the 150-4. The misc@ archives contain
various additional information on the subject.

I can't say for certain. My experiences with 3ware and OpenBSD ended
after the 7000-2 model (2 parallel IDE drives, present as twe(4)).
3ware isn't too friendly a manufacturer for OpenBSD use, so I wouldn't
chance it. Especially with niceties such as bioctl(8) available for
ami(4).
