Can't say anything about the Atheros card, but for the RaLink card you 
will need the following source files updated:
sys/dev/ic/rt2661.c     rev. 1.65
sys/dev/ic/rt2661var.h  rev. 1.14

The fix for the card went in after 4.9 was released, so grab the files 
with the right revision from CVS, it worked for me.
