The two things that come to mind first to check are:

1) what your dhcpd feeds you for name servers, and in what order. check
   responsivity with dig $ipaddress for each

2) partially configure or mis-configured ipv6, such as resolv.conf with
   "family inet6 inet4" where ipv6 connectivity is not actually
   available
