Here I see another thing with USB connection. The machine is a Thinkpad
T43 laptop, only 2 stacked USB ports. I connected a Genius USB mouse
and left it connected. The OS boots correctly and sometimes, right
after the login: prompt I can see the disconnect message for the mouse
without phisically disconnecting it.
The only fix is to remove the plug, connect it to the other USB and
maybe back in the old USB port. The "dead" port is not usable even with
other devices, I tried with a flash stick. It become usable only after
I plug in the mouse in the other port.
This in random, I cannot say what triggers it. I moved the plug and the
mouse connection, thinking it is because of a broken cable, but I can't
reproduce it.
