Yes I'm sure your right, that is why I was looking if someone is actually running OpenBSD on XEN, in the hope that such a person might share what they hat to tweak that OpenBSD runs smoothly on XEN.
I really do not think its an OpenBSD Issue as OpenBSD on bare-metal on the same hardware runs rock solid.
I might try KVM instead of XEN, as some offlist comments suggested that it is running stable on KVM...
