USB 3.0 interface are capable of supplying much more power than USB 2.0; some PCIe USB 3.0 cards have an extra power connector the way higher-end video cards do. Unless your attached devices are actually USB 3.0-able the extra features are useless. Maybe your BIOS has an option to switch them to USB 2.0 compat mode. -- p
