The one use I could think of us to make your internal network independent of your ISP. Right now, if you change ISPs, your network prefix changes and your whole network has to be renumbered.

I read about it in the following article earlier this year.

I'd be happy to have it pointed out to me how the article is wrong, but it seemed to point out the ugly corners the IPv6 folks don't talk about.
