Agreement abounds. "Compromise" takes two good ideas and results in a mediocre idea that is in the average of those two good ideas. Many like a compromised idea, because the idea is exactly that - compromised. If your goal is to please as many people as possible, then compromise is the way to go. If your goal is to produce outstanding software then, well, you're gonna have to piss off a few people.
