Good try, but all of this happens automatically at Install.

You could as well try .../bsd.rd; just for a try.

Have you simply tried to redo the install ? It is easier; you can use the
existing partitioning scheme. Should be done in ten minutes.

I know, this isn't much of a help, but what you describe should work
without a hitch if you enter all those values. So, a minor mistake ? Or a
corrupted harddisk or a corrupted download ?
