Looking at config(8), I think you should be able to set it in your copy of the
GENERIC file as:

ugh, I enabled AUTOCONV_VERBOSE, but dmesg gets cut off. Here's the
beginning of /var/log/messages

This is *after* the ralink card. Meaning the ralink output and my own
are gone. >.<
