1. Drug Combo Saves the Heart
In-Depth Doctor's Interview
About 2 million patients each year come to the hospital with acute
coronary syndrome, says interventional cardiologist Debabrata
Mukherje from Unviersity of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Patients who come
to the hospital with worsening chest pain of this type are often
recommended one of four classes of drugs including aspirin,
beta-blockers, ACE inhibtors and statins. Dr. Mukherje studied
whether patients had a synergistic benefit from using all four
medications at once, and they did. She believes this should be
