Mutt-ng is currently rewritten "from scratch", so it's probably not a good idea to use it right now [1]. The OpenBSD port of mutt saves you much trouble and does include most of the important patches (sidebar, hcache - sidebar is maybe not in -stable, but certainly in -current).
