I'm receiving an error in 3.8-current using the iwi driver. When
configuring the interface (iwi0) with a standard ifconfig command, the
following error immediately appears on the console: "iwi0: fatal error".
No additional error output is generated even when defining IWI_DEBUG in a
test kernel. I don't have any problems with this driver in 3.8-stable.
Also, using slightly older versions of the if_iwi driver files, the
3.8-current kernel compiles and the driver works fine:

The transmitter on/off button worked normally in all cases (confirmed with
-50dBm in ifconfig output)
I tried this with 3.8-current today as well as previously on 2005/12/15
with similar results (seeing that the above files have not been modified
in that time, this was expected). I've spoken with others who are running
3.8-current with iwi that do not have this problem, so I may be missing
something.
