Strictly speaking mail(1) is not for use over network at all: it reads local mailbox and sends mail via MTA. It does not do networking on its own. > Why do I want to use mail(1) as an email client? If neither of these is critical for you, mail(1) may be a good choice because of its simplicity. -- Dmitrij D. Czarkoff
