I have a generic question on Solaris emulation under OpenBSD. I have no clue how good it actually is? I would be interested to know, but my biggest question is really about the "system configuration card".

I have many system that have to run Solaris exclusively to run applications design for it, and these applications as you may have guess are not open source. So I am kind of stuck specially considering that these applications are looking for the serial number of the configuration cards to start working.

I would like to run these applications under the security and stability of OpenBSD in Solaris emulation mode if that's even possible and would be very stable as well as run well obviously, but how one would go at actually emulating the "system configuration card" serial number to get it going? That is specific hardware ports, or something isn't it?

The applications needs to run under Solaris 8, or Solaris 9 at this time.

So, is it even possible to emulate the requirement of the configuration cards?

Thanks

Daniel
