Thanks for the help so far. Installing a snapshot binary does not help me learn anything. Which is why I am to follow -current.
However, I read the FAQ regularly and have a local copy mirrored. When I saw that stop error, I remembered reading 'build failed because of file snake' and that it is possible that the src tree was not updated correctlly or properly create the obj directory... sadly I chose to fire an email before refering to what I remembered. I was certain I did all the correctly .. that is why I mailed the list. I am new to cvs, so that will be the next doc I read. I used: cvs -d$CVSROOT checkout -P src not cvs -d$CVSROOT up -Pd src I was assuming that using checkout -P would suffice, and writeover the existing src. I wasn't thinking about cleaning up. I guess I assumed wrong. I really "DO" appreciate those that help others like me. seriously, thanks. --mike On 1/14/06, Marc Espie <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > On Sat, Jan 14, 2006 at 02:42:51PM -0500, Michael Steinfeld wrote: > > still wouldn't build for me. > > > > > > ===> games/canfield > > ===> games/canfield/canfield > > install -c -s -o root -g games -m 2555 canfield /usr/games/canfield > > install: /usr/games/canfield/canfield: Is a directory > > *** Error code 71 > > > > Stop in /usr/src/games/canfield/canfield (line 125 of > > /usr/share/mk/bsd.prog.mk). > > *** Error code 1 > > > > Stop in /usr/src/games/canfield. > > *** Error code 1 > > > > Stop in /usr/src/games. > > *** Error code 1 > > > > Stop in /usr/src. > > *** Error code 1 > > > > Stop in /usr/src (line 73 of Makefile). > > Okay, wait for a binary snapshot. > > We won't hold your hand, those are very basic errors, which > have been discussed to death already in the FAQ. > -- -mike
