6-hourly, but if it's in the middle of a sync it probably won't start a new one (there are often 60+GB of packages a week, I don't know the current situation but certainly in the past there have been speed issues fetching from the fanout server on some networks). The hostserver.de server is usually a good choice for Germany if you need frequent updates (of course for releases you don't need frequent updates except for syspatch).
