For the benefit of the archives, I had an off-list reply with this suggestion: $ cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf Section "InputClass" Identifier "Ignore /dev/wskbd0" MatchDriver "kbd" Option "Ignore" "true" EndSection With this caveat: "There are a few other options available over X.org's lifetime that supposedly allow this to work, but I wasn't able to get them going. Of course, the above will no longer accept keyboard input if you plug in a USB keyboard until you change it back."
