I tried using a 2.5"-drive in an USB3.0 enclosure hooked up to an USB 3.0 port
on a machine running OpenBSD current, dmesg enclosed below. The drive has been
encrypted using softraid.
When rsyncing files to the encrypted filesystem the copying is halted, but the
system is still responsive. A quick check of /var/log/message showed:

In this state it is not possible to umount the filesystem or remove the device
from softraid using bioctl. Workaround to umount the filesystem is a hard
reset. My first thought was that the drive itself was broken. A fsck gave the
same I/O errors.
Now the strange part: When I attach the external drive to a USB 2 port,
everything works as expected. No errors, and fsck finds no issues. In this
configuration the external, encrypted drive is reliable.
It seems that my issue is related to the USB 3.0 port of my machine. Are
there any known issues with USB 3.0 and FDE using softraid? Any ideas to rule
out a hardware issue?
