Based on this excerpt from dmesg, I assume that the ral card has been
detected:
"
ral0 at pci0 dev 6 function 0 "Ralink RT2560" rev 0x01: irq 11, address
00:14:a5:0b:85:2b
ral0: MAC/BBP RT2560 (rev 0x04), RF RT2525
"
I also tried to check whether the driver had been loaded using
config(8) and got a message saying ral had been loaded(or was running,
can't remember which)
Thank you all for trying to help.

PCI ral adapters seem to strictly require a system supporting PCI 2.2 or
greater and will likely not work in systems based on older revisions of
the PCI specification.

I keep saying this no one listens.
The pcibios string does _not_ indicate PCI 2.2 compliance or not.
If you have a system that can't deal with the 3V PCI 2.2+ cards
and you put a ral in it, it will not post.
Oh. And how does one know if the system can handle 3V PCI 2.2+
cards? Any hint in the dmesg or do i need to dig up the mobo
manual?
Depending on jsg's definition of ``post'' (Power On Self Test or
post in dmesg?) your system will either refuse to boot or won't
show up in the dmesg. That is, if you have a ral card.
